Those're The People Who Died

2/25/2006- Darren McGavin. As much as a ten-year old boy could have a hero, for me, Carl Kolchak was it. From imdb's bio...

A remarkably seasoned actor of stage, screen and television, Darren McGavin has notched in excess of 200 performances; however, he is most fondly remembered by cult TV fans as heroic newspaper reporter Carl Kolchak in the classic but short-lived horror TV series "Kolchak: The Night Stalker" (1974). In a long and varied career, McGavin has often turned up as authority figures including policemen, military officers, stern-faced business executives or father figures; however, he is equally adept at light-hearted comedic performances.

2/24/2006- Don Knotts. The reason why I cried during certain episodes of "The Andy Griffith Show". Shut up, the man was a genius.

11/20/2006- Robert Altman- "Nashville" is genius, the first film of his that I really hooked onto. "The Long Goodbye" is one of my favorite seventies-noir films. "The Player" I saw five times when it first came out. "Gosford Park" made my wife and I cry. See DON KNOTTS for blistering reply to your sniggering.

Yes, Mike Douglas, June Allyson, and Dennis Weaver also passed away. Ann Richards too.

Somehow these guys hit me the hardest.

Okay, maybe I should have included Mike "the talk show I skipped school for" Douglas. His passing was pretty big for me.

In Other News...

1) Future son is about to give his dad a stroke, while trying to learn to walk. I get so freaked out watching him bonk into things, I feel like I need to babyproof me, in addition to everything else.

2) Beautiful wife caught a cold from either myself, her brother or her niece. To keep the peace in the family, I have blamed the niece.

3) Currently watching "Columbo" Season 4 and Season 5. Also "The Searchers".

4)Recently viewed Sinatra's "The Detective". Really good dramatic performance from Frank in not-so-dated late-sixties "relevant" crime drama. Sinatra's character also basis for John McLane in "Die Hard". F'reelz, yo.

5)The missus and I went to see "Night At The Museum" last night. Worth it just to see Ben Stiller and re-animated T-Rex (dinosaur, not glam rock seventies icon) chasing Dick Van Dyke driving a stagecoach through Central Park. So surreal, you'd swear Salvador Dali was directing. Okay, a hacky Dali who directed the two "Cheaper By The Dozen" comedy epics.

Ben Stiller LOOKS like a re-animated T-Rex...only a very short one.

poor Stiller kids...

...still letting his hair go gray was a very smart choice.
